Earning less

October 31st, 2007 at 01:12 pm

I'm going to make way less than I did from now on. I'm working 6 or 8 hours a week so basically, I have more free time to study.

I notice that I have difficulty keeping most of my paycheck money these days. Oh course... I used my 1000$ reserve money but it's not enough. It proves that no matter how much I got, it'll never be enough.

I'm not going to add anything on my 20$ for a little while. I'm going to organize myself a little bit and concentrate on school.

By the way, I count my piggy bank again and I have 20$ more in there.

Old amount: 44$ + 20$ =
New amount: 64$

64$ for New York.

Christmas fund

I'm adding 50$ on my christmas fund.

Old amount: 205$ + 50$ =
New amount: 255$

Saving for New York city

October 24th, 2007 at 12:10 pm

I decide to save for my New York city trip this December. I know for sure that I will not be needing 500$ because I'm going with friends and the transport will be provide except the gas. We are going to split the cost for hotels too. The only big expense I'll be facing is the food and the shopping. I already have 44$ in my piggy bank already and I'm going to put all my change in there.

Putting money in my christmas fund

October 19th, 2007 at 07:05 am

I'm putting 50$ in there like every week.

Old amount : 105$ + 50$ =
New amount : 155$

I love free stuff!!

October 2nd, 2007 at 08:36 pm

Today, representatives of a University came to my school to answer questions.

It's the school that I'm planning to attend in about two years or so, so I took advantage of asking them questions about the Finance program. I am quite satisfied with the brief response and I like the idea of doing work and study. If I got into the program, I might not have my summer off in University but when I gratuated, I will have 1 year and a half of experience in my belt. That is interesting.

When I was about to leave, the woman told me not to forget about the free stuff. I look at the table and it was a tiny staple. I happily took it and about four/five notepads. I like free stuff, especially when it comes to things I need. I was thinking of buying a staple but turn out that I got it for free!! I don't need to buy it anymore =P.

By the way, I'm going to the question sessions in October 22nd. Around that date to ask questions to the students who attend the Finance program in Concordia. I can't wait and I hope they have more free stuff =P especially sticky notepad. I need more of them.

Is it worth it?

September 9th, 2007 at 11:01 am

My brother said yes to a friend that he'll come to Japan with him next year in May and Iwould like him to go to experience travel a little bit. So far, he has saved 0$ while his friend has saved 5000$. So I took the initiative to make him save now. I counted his change and he has 60$ in his little toy bank. He wants me to save his money in another way because that money in the toy bank is to buy something expensive. I was asking myself how can my brother save for his Japan trip if he is putting all 50 cents a day for something expensive like concert tickets, games, etc and he is using his weekly allowance to go out and buy stuff.

I told him that I'm willing to help him with saving but he needs to priorize one thing and that is Japan. He replied back and he said that he might be going to Hong Kong to visit his cousins... I think I'm helping him save his money so he can spend it later on more useless stuff... Now I just wonder, is it worth helping him save or it's better to let him learn ? He isn't willing to work harder though... He thinks I can help him save 3000$ in no time. ._______."

Change my credit reward

September 3rd, 2007 at 08:15 am

I finally switch my credit card reward to a 0.5% cashback on every 2$ spend and there's no annual charge. I don't like the airmiles reward on spending 40$ to get 1 point. It takes too long and the only reward that I'm interested is the plane ticket which cost 3 500 points for low season and 6 to 7 k of points. It will influence me to spend more and I don't want that to happen, also it's a pure waste of time! With the 0.5%, I can add the cashback money in my challenge.

Saving while shopping

May 18th, 2007 at 09:14 pm

I went shopping for things to match with my prom dress. I found a good push up bra for 35$ but turned out it was 50% off!! I got 17.50$ off (round it up to 18$)!! I'm so happy! I just saved some money.

I didn't really want to buy it at first because it was expensive but luck was by my side and it was on sale this week.

I went to Winners and I found a really nice t-shirt top for 16.99$, I was relucted to buy it because I wasn't sure if it will be worth it and in the end, I was like : I'll wait till I lose weight then I'll think about it. I'm going to put 2$ for avoid buy.

And... I tried the bra with my dress and it looks really nice. I actually have a curvy shape instead of a pear shape. I need to lose weight on the tummy area though, it goes bad with my dress. >.

Now I know where my money went

April 27th, 2007 at 05:24 pm

I keep looking at my bank account and I was wondering where my chequing money went. My saving account is growing but my chequing money is going in the 200-300 $ range. Whenever I get my paycheck and it turns into ~500$, after a few days, it goes back to the initial amount that I had before. So I checked at my monthly chequing history and I noticed that most of my money goes into the saving account. @.@ I guess I saved more than I spend.

By looking at my monthly spending, I spend approximatly 150$/month and I put more than 10% of my paycheck in a month or biweekly. All the money that I have currently goes to the challenge money...

I feel rich ^.^!

Lazy week

April 17th, 2007 at 08:00 pm

I have two orals this week and I'm doing fine though... Don't need to pratice since one is done on video and the other is just explaining to the class about the immigrants.

Today at school, there weren't much to do in school. I received my math mark and I got 48%. I was very upset.

At the second period, my FPS teacher talked about us on films from the 1903 to the present day. It was really interesting and he was talking about a documentary that he has shown to his student last year about the concentration camp, it dated back in the 1955, ten years after the end of WWII. The documentary is called : The night and the fog. It's a very dramatic one and I'm planning to watch it if I have time this week and I hope it's not too horrific like everyone said... I am quite sensible but I felt I should watch it to learn something from it.

At lunch time, I went to see my math teacher after lunch to look at my mistakes on my exam and she made a few mistakes on my test and I finally got 60%. It's not good enought but I pass... at least.

During the 3rd period, teacher said she's almost done with our written production and we will receive it on thursday. We did a few corrections on our documents about different ways to argue for our written production exam on May 3rd. I hope I get good mark on this one...

At the fourth period, teacher asigned us a project that will be due in three weeks. I'm with my guy friend... Hehe we are two winners from the publicity contest (His team got the 1st place and I got the 3rd place). I think if we work hard, we're going to get good marks... Our project now is to compare two countries, one rich and the other one is poor. We chose Sweden and Paraguay. I wanted to compare Switzerland and Paraguay but someone took it. Being an evil person, I said : Naah, they haven't chose their second option, lets take Switzerland anyways. He insists we take Sweden. Hehe... I never thought I would be that mean. >.

Too poor to buy a digital camera

March 16th, 2007 at 02:32 pm

I can't help it but to say this but... I am too poor to buy myself a digital camera =(. Everytime I receive my paycheck it goes somewhere. Either in my challenge money or in my mutual funds. I have never feel that poor since... I work once a week at 3 to 9 pm. *sigh* =( I want a digital camera before June so I can take pictures of my friends and share with you guys. *sigh*

I'm going to try to talk with a coworker of mine that work twice a week on 3 to 11 pm, to switch with one of her eight hours shift. It would make a few dollars of a difference and I will set up a plan to save my money for a camera but... Where will I have 300$ in less than two months? >.

Lazy Monday

October 30th, 2006 at 03:14 pm

I took my graduation picture today. The photographer makes me laugh and I took three different poses. My economie teacher filmed me while the photographer was moving my head trying to get the right pose, it was so funny! I can't wait to see the result on the 5th December. It's going to cost me 45$ for 36 pictures of me in different sizes.

Today at school, we didn't work much but in Spanish class, I was frustrated that my team was writting a stupid story about pot and they used a lot of De pronto "Suddendly" in the story, so I didn't even bother helping out. The teacher didn't like it but she said the good thing about it, it's constant and it doesn't always follow the same verbs... Okay whatever. Math class was alright, I could understand half of what the teacher was explaining but I'm beginning to slowly understanding the subject in general. Gym was alright, I tried playing hockey and I hold the stick wrong but I did play... Not good at it though.

After school, I went to Tim Hortons with my cousin and sister to get muffins for tomorrow breakfast, I used my 50% off to buy it, so it makes 4.35$ for twelve muffins. When I went back home, I took a muffin and made some soup to eat... I realise that these few days, I was eating whatever I could find in the house... I think I'm going to gain weight soon. .______." I need to start eating healthy and start doing sport or else, I will have a hard time losing it.

Not to mention my spending challenge hasn't been going well lately, I didn't even put a single dollars since the 28th of October. I need to stop spending money >.

16th special birthday gift

October 11th, 2006 at 06:33 pm

My cousin birthday is on January 27th and I still haven't save up to give her a really nice 16th birthday gift. I'm thinking of putting aside 100$ from now on but I don't know where I can get the money exactly... I guess I'll have to think about it.

Money Sense magazine

September 22nd, 2006 at 06:20 pm

I order the Money Sense magazine online with my dad airmiles card a few days ago and I'm currently waiting for it to be deliver to my house... I hope it's good.

I order 7 issues for a year for 100 airmiles. Anyone has read this magazine before? What do you guys think ? Is it good?

Counting on pennies...

September 17th, 2006 at 07:43 am

Yesterday night I was doing my homework, then I got bored so I started counting my pennies in my pikachu bank. I didn't realize I have a lot of pennies in there...

I started putting my worthless pennies in for a year already with my little sister and we got 8.51$ already. I was so happy... We're going to use the money probably next year for our Disney trip for a special souvenir... She'll be 10 by then.

I taught my little sister to save last year when she was 8 and now she accumulates a lot of money these past few months from gift money and allowance. I'm very happy for her, but she's only a kid, she don't need to use the money for anything. I hate to imagine her in her teens like me... Haha... She'll have a lot of wants by then, anyways I'm keeping my hope up she won't turn like my brother who's a spender, even though I taught him to save his changes whenever he gets them and put it in a piggy bank, his spending habit hasn't change a bit.

Credit card = airmiles... Woohoo!!

September 4th, 2006 at 09:43 am

I just found out that I can get airmiles by using my credit card. From now on, any purchase I make will be put in my credit card, but I'll pay full when the bill come.

The reason I decide to do it now is because I found out with 4,900 points, I can get a free air ticket to go to a certain destination I want in the future... I pay most of my stuff in cash, why not in credit card ? I know the catch of the credit card with the airmiles, they want me to spend more, but I'm not going to fall for it. I'm already frugal, so I think I'm ready for the next big step in my life... Control my spending with a credit card, well since I don't go out a lot, I think I'll be fine for now.

Does that mean I won't use cash anymore? Naah, I'll bring a 20$ bill with me whenever I make purchase less than 5$. Hehehe ^.^
